Why buy the One Piece Card Game in English rather than French

The One Piece Card Game is one of the few TCGs where the timing difference between Japanese, international English, and French releases remains significant. English expansions are generally released before the French version through Bandai Asia, which explains why some older sets (OP05, OP08) are available in English but already sold out or poorly represented in French on the European market. Four concrete reasons motivate buying the English version. First, international liquidity: English remains the standard language on major trading platforms, and a sealed English display box can be resold to a European or American buyer without distinction. Access to older sets is also available: OP05 Awakening of the New Era, OP06 Wings of the Captain, OP07 500 Years in the Future, and OP08 Two Legends are sometimes easier to find in English than in French. Collective consistency is beneficial for English-speaking or "international" collectors who only collect in English. Finally, game compatibility is ensured: English cards are legal in official Bandai tournaments on the international circuit (Organized Play), just like the French versions.

Structure of an English One Piece Display

The technical specifications are identical to the French version since Bandai produces on the same lines for the EU/US market. A standard display contains 24 booster packs of 12 cards each, for a total of 288 cards. A Premium Booster Display (PRB) contains 20 boosters of 12 cards each, with high hit ratios. A cardboard blister pack contains 24 boosters in a dispenser box, without individual displays. Pull rates are also identical, with approximately 1 Leader per 2 boosters, 1 SR every 3 to 4 boosters, and 1 SEC per 3 displays.

English expansions available in our catalog

Regarding Main Sets, we offer OP05 to OP14, including sets that have become rare from official distributors. The Extra Booster EB01 Memorial Collection is the first Extra Booster in the line, featuring iconic reprints of cards from the OP01-OP04 block, making it a key collector's item. The EB02 Anime 25th Collection celebrates the 25th anniversary of the One Piece anime. The Premium Booster PRB01 and PRB02 The Best are annual "best-of" sets with premium ratios, sold in 20-booster displays.

Why Older UK Displays Are Appreciating in Value

Unlike Magic: The Gathering or Pokémon, where production is almost continuous, Bandai operates on a limited wave printing system for the One Piece Card Game. Once an expansion sells out through official retailers, Bandai only performs a partial reprint focused on the most played cards, but new, sealed displays are not systematically reprinted. Displays OP05 through OP09 are already considered difficult to source new, sealed on the international market. This dynamic explains the sometimes significant difference in value between a recent display (OP13, OP14) and a second-generation display (OP05, OP08) on the secondary market.

Preserving a Sealed One Piece Display

A Bandai display retains its full collector value as long as its original packaging remains intact. Never remove the original shrink wrap, as its presence is a crucial marker of authenticity for future resale. Vertical storage on its long edge is recommended; never store it flat, as the shrink wrap will loosen under prolonged pressure. A stable temperature between 15 and 22°C and humidity below 60% are essential. Direct UV exposure should be avoided: Bandai artwork is printed in glossy four-color process, which will fade after 2 to 3 years of exposure to direct light.
