Ultra Pro, long-time licensee of Wizards of the Coast

Ultra Pro has been the official supplier of Magic: The Gathering accessories under direct license from Wizards of the Coast since the 1990s. The brand produces playmats, sleeves, deck boxes, binders, and storage boxes featuring artwork from current expansions, with a release schedule aligned with that of the sets. Each piece of artwork is tied to a specific expansion and is not reprinted after the end of its sales cycle: a Final Fantasy playmat featuring Cloud, released in 2025, will never be reprinted, which explains the collector value of sold-out Ultra Pro accessories.

Official MTG Playmats: Verified Specifications

The standard Ultra Pro playmat measures 24 inches by 13.5 inches, or approximately 61 × 34 cm. Its soft microfiber surface protects cards and prevents them from slipping without snagging. The 2-3 mm non-slip rubber backing keeps the mat firmly in place during gameplay. The format is identical to that used by Pokémon, Lorcana, One Piece, and most TCGs in the international format, making this Magic playmat usable for any game, regardless of the universe printed on it.

Stitched Edge Finish: The Premium Version

The Stitched Edge finish (also called Pro-Stitch) is the premium version of the Ultra Pro playmats. The edges are reinforced with durable polyester stitching that prevents fraying at the corners and extends the playmat's lifespan under heavy tournament use. Most of the recent Magic x Final Fantasy playmats in our catalog feature a Black Stitched finish, a variant that has become standard on collector's editions since 2023.

ChromaFusion 100ct: The Gold Standard Deck Protector Sleeves

The officially licensed Magic Ultra Pro 100ct Deck Protector Sleeves utilize proprietary ChromaFusion technology, which fuses the print to the polypropylene layer instead of gluing it to the surface. This method solves the common problem of the color peeling off the sides after a few uses, a known flaw of inexpensive illustrated sleeves. The matte finish diffuses light and prevents glare under shop lights or during streaming. A pack of 100 sleeves covers a full Commander deck with a small reserve of replacements.

Pro-Binder 9-Pocket: Structure and Capacity

The Pro-Binder Ultra Pro 9-Pocket is the go-to binder for Magic: The Gathering collectors. It contains 20 pages with nine pockets each, for a total capacity of 360 single-sleeved cards. The pages utilize a side-loading design, which prevents cards from falling out when the binder is turned upside down—a significant improvement over older top-loading binders. The material is ultra-clear, PVC-free, and acid-free polypropylene, meeting archival-safe standards for the long-term preservation of valuable collector cards.

The Final Fantasy crossover, the current cornerstone of the line

The Magic x Final Fantasy (FIN) set, released in 2025, represents the biggest crossover in Magic's history, with a dedicated Ultra Pro accessory line of unprecedented scope. Our fourteen Final Fantasy items cover the central characters of the Square Enix saga: Cloud Strife (Final Fantasy VII), Tifa Lockhart (FFVII), Vivi Ornitier (Final Fantasy IX), Tidus (Final Fantasy X), and several others. Each playmat is offered in a Black Stitched version, with artwork specifically commissioned for the Magic set and different from the original video game artwork. For a Final Fantasy fan who also plays MTG, this is a level of license convergence never before seen.
