The Bundle, Heir to the Fat Pack for Three Decades

The Bundle is the direct successor to the Fat Pack, a classic Magic format that emerged in the 1990s. Wizards of the Coast renamed the product Bundle in 2017 while preserving its core concept: providing everything a player needs to start an expansion in a single box, without having to buy boosters, lands, and a storage box separately. It is now the most popular entry-level product for players who want to seriously invest in a set without immediately purchasing a full display.

What's in a Modern Bundle

A standard Magic Bundle contains nine sealed Play Boosters from the set, forty basic lands divided into twenty foil and twenty non-foil cards, a spin-down that acts as a life counter, a promo pack with a new card from the set, and a rigid storage box sized to hold a full sleeved Commander deck. The Bundle is priced lower than the sum of the individual components, making it the best value-for-money option in the Wizards line for a player committing to a set.

Gift Bundle, Scene Box, Prerelease Kit: The Variations

The Gift Bundle is an enhanced version of the standard Bundle, released annually at the end of the year for the holiday season. It generally contains an additional Play Booster, a different exclusive promo card, and a more elaborate presentation. The Scene Box is a format introduced in 2024 that combines boosters and visual storytelling around a key scene from the set: the cards included in the opening are selected to illustrate a specific moment in the set's story. The Prerelease Kit is the official format for in-store launch events: six boosters, a dated foil promo card from the prerelease, a collector's spin-down, and the materials needed to play Sealed sets before the official release.

Why the Bundle is Cost-Effective Compared to Buying Individual Boosters

The cost savings of a Bundle come down to three key factors. First, the price per booster is 10 to 20% lower than the retail price of a single Play Booster. Second, the included accessories (foil basic lands, rigid box, spin-down, promo card) have their own market value, estimated at between €10 and €15 if purchased separately. Finally, the promo card from the bundle and the foil basic lands from the set will become sought-after collector's items in the medium term for players who customize their Commander decks.

Themed and Crossover Bundles

Our catalog includes bundles for both recent classic expansions (Foundations, Duskmourn, Lorwyn Eclipsed, Outlaws of Thunder Junction) and bundles for major Universes Beyond expansions (Final Fantasy, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). Universes Beyond bundles have their own unique sales dynamics: fans of the original license (Final Fantasy, TMNT) often buy the bundle more for the universe than for the game itself, which reduces availability in official stock.

Gift and Collectible Use

Bundles are the perfect Magic gift for an active player or a friend who's just starting out. It contains everything you need to open it (the nine Play Boosters), everything you need to play (the basic lands and the box), and everything you need to collect (the promo card and the foil lands). Compared to a display that only offers boosters, the Bundle provides a complete experience in a single product, which explains why it remains the most popular format given away each year on the Magic market.
