Pokémon Booster Blisters and Booster Packs
The Pokémon blister pack: the TCG's exclusive promotional format
Between a single booster pack (10 cards) and a full display (36 boosters), the blister pack is the format designed for retail (supermarkets, bookstores, tobacconists) and for gifting. It combines one or more booster packs with an exclusive promo card and, depending on the format, a collector's item. Its entry-level price makes it the easiest format to give as a gift, and its exclusive promo card is the most sought-after by promotional card collectors.
The four blister pack formats to distinguish
Booster blister (Checklane): 1 sealed booster pack + 1 holographic promo card, in a rigid case. The entry-level format to discover an expansion or target a specific promotion at a low price.
DuoPack (Double Blister): 2 sealed booster packs + 1 holographic promo card featuring an iconic Pokémon (Pikachu, Eevee, Charizard, Mew…). Ideal as a gift.
Tripack (Triple Blister): 3 sealed booster packs + 1 holographic promo card + 1 metallic collector coin featuring the Pokémon, sometimes including a code card. The most popular Pokémon gift format in France.
Blister display: a display stand or set grouping several blisters from the same expansion. Allows you to showcase the complete series of promotional items from a set or to provide a point of sale.
The blister pack promo card: a parallel collection
The promotional cards included in blister packs, DuoPacks, and Tripacks are not available in regular booster packs. They bear a number from the Black Star Promo SVP (Scarlet & Purple era) or Black Star Promo SWSH (Sword & Shield era) series, with artwork unique to that blister pack distribution. It is this promotion, and not the booster packs themselves, that often determines the format's value for collectors.
Why choose a blister pack?
Gift: the finished item (rigid case, visible artwork, promo included) is missing from the single booster.
Hunting for a Black Star promo: the promo card is the real reason to buy, the boosters are a bonus.
Testing an expansion: the booster blister or the DuoPack allows you to discover a set at a limited cost before committing to an ETB or a display .
For the sheer volume of pulls, the display box remains more effective. But for initial contact, a gift, or a targeted promotion, the blister pack is the standard format. For openings without a promotion, from a bundle to a display box of 60 boosters, opt for the booster bundle .
