Set 2: Spiritforged - Riftbound TCG
Spiritforged is the first Riftbound expansion after the Base Set, released in February 2026 in English. The French version, titled Armes spirituelles (Spiritual Weapons), is scheduled for July 31, 2026. The set explores the connection between the physical and spiritual worlds of Runeterra, with a focus on mystical artifacts and spirits. Beyond the theme, it's primarily the addition of new gameplay mechanics that makes this expansion essential for players who want to go beyond Origins.
The set contains 221 cards (excluding Overnumber cards) and introduces 12 new Legend champions. Among them are Ezreal, Fiora, Irelia, Lucian, and Rumble. These champions bring playstyles absent from the first set. Fiora, for example, encourages a very precise dueling style where every fight counts, while Rumble opens up more chaotic strategies focused on area-of-effect damage.
The key mechanic of Spiritforged is Equipment. This is a new type of card that attaches to a unit or champion and remains on the field as Gear. The unique feature: if the equipped unit dies, the Gear returns to your base instead of disappearing. You can then reattach it to another unit. This completely changes the way value is managed in the game, because invested Gear is never truly lost.
Three other mechanics accompany Equipment. Gold is a Gear token that functions as a flexible power source, an additional resource that accumulates throughout the game. Repeat allows you to cast a spell a second time if you pay its Repeat cost, doubling the impact of your best spells in crucial moments. Quick-Draw is an Equipment variant that is played at Reaction Speed, without paying the Equipment cost, perfect for surprising your opponent in the heat of battle.
As for the products, Spiritforged retains the structure of Origins. Boosters still contain 14 cards with the same distribution of rarities. The display box contains 24 booster packs. The set also includes Overnumber versions, premium prints with alternative artwork, covering legends, units, and equipment.
The two Champion Decks in Spiritforged feature Rumble and Fiora. Each deck contains 56 preconstructed cards, a paper playmat, a deck box, a booster pack, and a rules and deck-building guide. The Rumble deck plays an aggressive and unpredictable style, while the Fiora deck is designed for methodical dueling. These two decks allow you to play against each other immediately without preparation, making them a good purchase to test the set.
Spiritforged is also the set that began to diversify competitive archetypes. Equipment introduced a new strategic layer that didn't exist in Origins: should you invest in durable equipment or spells with immediate effects? This trade-off has influenced all deck-building decisions since that expansion.
For collectors, Spiritforged's Overnumber cards are among the most sought-after in the line. The alternate artwork plays on the set's spiritual theme with visuals not found in the standard versions.
If you already play with Origins cards and want to expand your deck, Spiritforged is the natural next step. The two sets are compatible, and the cards shuffle in the Standard format, regardless of language. All our Spiritforged products are available and shipped from France.
