Riftbound TCG Accessories
Playing Riftbound without card sleeves is possible. But as soon as you start collecting rares, foils, or alternate art, the question of card protection quickly arises. Official Riftbound accessories are designed for the exact card format of the game, with designs that replicate the visuals of the different sets. They work with cards in all languages (English, French, Chinese) since the physical format is identical.
Card sleeves are sold in packs of 100. This is enough for a full 40-card double-sleeved deck (one inner and one outer sleeve), or to protect a main deck and a rune deck in single sleeves. Each set offers several designs: Unleashed, for example, features four different illustrations (references UVSRB03AS01 to UVSRB03AS04, $16.99 each). The format is standard TCG, compatible with most deck boxes and binders on the market.
Playmats serve as a playing surface and visual markers for different areas of the game: your Legend, your battlegrounds, your rune deck, and your discard area. In tournaments, having your own playmat is practically mandatory. Riftbound playmats are full-size and available in four designs per set (references UVSRB03PM01 to UVSRB03PM04 for Unleashed, $27.99 each). They are made of rubber with a cloth surface, the industry standard for TCGs.
For storage, the range includes the deckboxes included with the Champion Decks (paper-based, functional but basic) and the Vault introduced with Unleashed, which serves as a reusable storage box with dividers. If you're looking for more robust storage, standard TCG-sized rigid deckboxes are compatible with sleeved Riftbound cards.
Transport is a crucial consideration for players who travel to tournaments or game nights. A Riftbound player typically carries a main deck (40 sleeved cards), a rune deck (12 cards), three battlefields, their Legend, tokens, and a playmat. Compartmentalized storage solutions that accommodate this volume are available in the general TCG market, but the Unleashed Vault also does the job for a full deck.
An often overlooked aspect: tokens. Riftbound uses a lot of tokens in-game (Sprite, Bird, Gold, Buff, XP Tracker for Unleashed, etc.), and losing them mid-game is frustrating. The official tokens included in the decks and the Vault are double-sided cardboard. For heavy use, some players replace them with acrylic tokens or other types of chips, but the originals are perfectly adequate.
In competitive play, the quality of accessories matters. Worn or opaque sleeves can be considered as cards marked by an arbiter. Changing sleeves regularly (every 2-3 months with frequent use) is a good habit. With packs of 100, you always have plenty to replace damaged sleeves.
