Set 1: Origins - Riftbound TCG
Riftbound Origins is the first set for the League of Legends collectible card game, developed by UVS Games in collaboration with Riot Games. Released in October 2025 in English, it arrived in French on May 29, 2026, under the name Origines. This set laid the foundation for the entire game system. If you're new to Riftbound or looking to build a solid collection, Origins remains the logical starting point, regardless of the language you choose.
The set features over 300 unique cards and 12 playable champions as Legends. Among them are names familiar to all League of Legends players: Jinx, Yasuo, Ahri, Teemo, Lee Sin, Darius, Miss Fortune, Sett, Kai'Sa, Volibear, Leona, and Viktor. Each champion defines your deck's identity by dictating the rune colors you can use, directly influencing your strategy.
The game is based on five realms that correspond to the major regions of Runeterra. Demacia favors tempo and efficiency. Noxus focuses on aggression and direct damage. Ionia emphasizes reactions and dodging. Freljord builds power gradually. Piltover and Zaun combine cards to create combos. Origins introduces these five realms with a card pool large enough to accommodate every playstyle.
The resource system is one of Riftbound's defining features. Your rune deck (12 cards separate from the main deck) generates two types of resources: energy when you exhaust a rune, and power when you recycle it. You can do both on the same rune in the same turn, resulting in more dynamic resource management than in most TCGs.
Origins offers several formats. The booster pack contains 14 cards with a fixed distribution: 7 commons, 3 uncommons, 2 rare or better foil cards, 1 foil card of any rarity, and 1 token. The display box holds 24 boosters in a sealed box, the standard format for bulk openings or drafting. The Proving Grounds box includes 4 pre-constructed decks, acrylic champion miniatures, battlegrounds, and rune decks—a true starter kit for 2 to 4 players. The French version will offer "First Steps" introductory products instead.
Games last between 10 and 20 minutes in 1v1, or 20 to 30 minutes in multiplayer (3 to 4 players). The objective is to reach 8 points by conquering and holding battlegrounds. The final point must come from controlling a battleground, thus preventing passive victories.
The standard deck build consists of 40 cards in the main deck, 12 runes, 1 Legend, and 3 battlegrounds. A maximum of 3 copies of each card are allowed. The cards must match your champion's colors, which limits the available pool and forces interesting deckbuilding choices.
Origins is also the set with the largest number of core cards, the ones found in almost every deck regardless of the expansion played. If you plan to play Riftbound long-term, having a solid Origins base makes deck building easier for all subsequent sets. English and French cards are compatible in-game; only the text language changes.
