The Marvel Universe Joins the Magic Multiverse: The Crossover Setting
Marvel Super Heroes is a Universes Beyond expansion that brings Marvel Comics characters into Magic: The Gathering. The Avengers take center stage, alongside the Fantastic Four, S.H.I.E.L.D., Heroes for Hire, and several "Avenger-adjacent" characters. Heroes and villains appear as legendary creatures, complete with their iconic gear and abilities that directly reflect their powers. The line extends the collaboration begun with Marvel's Spider-Man, the first Universes Beyond set dedicated to the publisher, by expanding the roster to encompass the entire Marvel Universe.
The Four Commander Decks: Avengers, Fantastic Four, Wakanda, Latveria
The main set is accompanied by four preconstructed Commander decks, which are themselves grouped into a subset with the code MSC. Avengers Assemble, led by Captain America, Team Leader, plays the typical Hero deck coupled with +1/+1 counters. The Fantastic Four, with Mister Fantastic as commander, is built around noncreature spells and copying triggered effects. Wakanda Forever, led by T'Challa, the Black Panther, utilizes artifacts and introduces new Vibranium tokens. Doom Prevails, commanded by Doctor Doom, King of Latveria, combines villains, connive mechanics, and life drain strategy. A collector's edition of all four decks is also available.
The Marvel Universe (MAR) bonus sheet: Source Material and iconic reprints
Marvel Super Heroes includes a bonus sheet called Marvel Universe, whose set code is MAR. The MAR 41-100 numbering is integrated into the Play Boosters and includes notable reprints like Dauthi Voidwalker and Massacre Girl, reworked with artwork in the classic Marvel comics style. Several bonus sheet variants are only available through Collector Boosters, where they appear in borderless Source Material. The bonus sheet draws from Magic's historical library to offer collectors new versions of familiar cards, dressed in comic book-style artwork.
Power-up and Teamwork Cost: New Mechanics The set introduces two signature mechanics. Power-up is a one-time activated ability (similar to the familiar exhaust mechanic) that has its mana cost reduced by the converted mana cost of the permanent it's attached to if that permanent entered the battlefield the same turn: it represents the moment a character unleashes its full power. The Teamwork cost functions as a variant of Summon and illustrates the idea of superhero teams combining their strengths. Three return mechanics complete the ecosystem: Boost, Collude, and Enrage, distributed among the different archetypes in the set.
The Mind Stone: The Collector's Headliner Card with Three Artworks
The Mind Stone is the expansion's ultra-rare card, available in three distinct versions by three different artists. The standard version (MSH 21) is illustrated by Volkan Bağa, the second variant (MSH 385) by Madeline Boni, and the third (MSH 386) by the duo Leinil Francis Yu and Sunny Gho, well-known figures in Marvel comics. The borderless, full-art, textless variant is exclusive to Collector Boosters and serves as the aesthetic counterpart to The Soul Stone introduced in Marvel's Spider-Man. The Mind Stone mechanically recreates the classic colorless artifact, adding indestructibility and a new ability that allows you to exile a nonland permanent you control at the start of your end phase and then return it later. Its rarity in Collector Boosters makes it one of the most sought-after cards in the set on the secondary market.
Visual Treatments and Scene Boxes The Collector Boosters feature the most desirable variants: borderless Source Material, Extended Art Commander, traditional foils, and the headline Mind Stone. The Scene Boxes contain six traditional foil borderless cards whose artwork combines to form a complete panoramic scene, complemented by six oversized art cards, each featuring an enlarged illustration. Three Play Boosters and a display stand are included in each Scene Box.
