The Marvel Super Heroes Prerelease Kit is the format dedicated to Magic: The Gathering prerelease events, available one week before the official set release. It contains six Marvel Super Heroes Play Boosters, one premium card (traditional rare or mythic rare) stamped with the prerelease date, and a Spindown life counter themed after the set. Each Play Booster includes 14 Magic cards, including a guaranteed Marvel Universe bonus sheet card (set code MAR). This Universes Beyond expansion brings the Avengers, Fantastic Four, S.H.I.E.L.D., and Heroes for Hire into the Magic multiverse, alongside their iconic villains.
The Prerelease Kit is the ideal format for participating in Sealed Deck tournaments held in stores during prerelease weekend, or simply for getting a head start on the set with a balanced mix of discovery and deckbuilding content. The expansion introduces two signature mechanics to discover during these first few games: Power-up, a one-time activated ability whose cost is reduced if the permanent entered the same turn, and Teamwork, a variant of Summon. Three returning mechanics complete the ecosystem: Boost, Collude, and Enrage.
To extend the experience after the prerelease, Marvel Super Heroes Play Boosters (single, in packs of 10, or in displays of 30) remain the go-to format for opening the set in bulk.
