The prerelease remains the best way to experience a new Magic: The Gathering expansion in the most immersive way. With Secrets of Strixhaven (code set SOS), the return to the plane of Arcavios makes perfect sense from the moment you open the kit, as the seeded booster pack places you directly in one of the university's five colleges. The college is randomly assigned: you will receive Lorehold (red/white, archaeology and spirits), Prismari (blue/red, elemental art), Quandrix (green/blue, mathematics and fractals), Silverquill (white/black, word magic), or Witherbloom (black/green, cycles of life and death).
This 14-card seeded booster guarantees a rare or mythic foil card, leaning towards the colors of the college you draw. This is a real advantage for Sealed deck building: your starting deck already has a clear strategic direction. The five additional Play Boosters, each containing 14 cards, expand your options for fine-tuning your 40-card deck.

In total, the kit offers 84 cards. Each Play Booster includes a guaranteed Mystic Archive card, meaning your kit will contain at least five of these historic reprints with their unique setting. The oversized Spindown die completes the package for tracking life totals during gameplay. The Prerelease Experience takes place at participating WPN stores starting April 17, 2026, a full week before the official release on April 24.
